Guide to Colorado's Disc Golf Courses in Aurora
By Jason Cangialosi of Associated Content
Working our way up from deep south of Denver in Castle Rock to the outer limits of Golden, these are the greater Denver area's Disc Golf Courses. Below is a review of the Expo Park Disc Golf Course (aka Exposition Park) in Aurora, Colorado. Expo Park Disc Golf Course (aka Exposition Park) From I-225, at the Parker Rd. Exit, go northwest to Havana and go north to Exposition heading east, you'll see the park on your left. Warning: You will lose your discs in the nasty water that infects this park. Other than that, it's a nice green park with lots of shot variety and open space. The water hazards are this 18 Hole course's biggest challenge, along with some trees and the potential geese posse or dog-walkers. This is the closest Colorado Disc Golf course to Dogleg Discs, probably the Denver Metro area's top spot for all your frolfing needs. For those not savvy to the ways of disc golf, here it is in a nutshell: Disc Golf is basically played just as traditional Golf, but instead uses specialized Frisbee Discs and metal baskets as targets instead of balls, clubs, carts, and holes. A Disc Golf course also utilizes the natural landscape of parks and open areas instead of the manicured courses of traditional golf. A course usually has 18 baskets (holes) which are laid out around an open area, utilizing trees, hills and water as natural obstacles to players. Along with the 18 strategically placed baskets, there are coinciding platforms (tee-boxes) placed between 200 and 600 ft. from the baskets from where players toss their discs.
